Volunteers: The Generation of Inspiration

31 May, 2012

The transition from prison life to life in the community is a difficult one and offenders benefit from the support they receive from Communitas volunteers. Community support is one of the primary factors for ex-offenders successfully reintegrating and maintaining a crime-free lifestyle.

Students, professionals and retirees from all across Canada and beyond give Communitas a marvelous diversity of volunteers that represents true community. Volunteers aged 20 to 80 involve themselves in activities including reintegration, social activities, prison visits, accompanying offenders on escorted outings for prisoners, mentoring and accompaniment including Circles of Support and Accountability (CoSA).

Become a Volunteer

Communitas welcomes new people who are interested in learning about restorative justice and exploring their potential in a dynamic environment. You’ll meet interesting people, determine for yourself how much time you can give per week or month, and find a right match for your skills and interests.

If you are wondering if volunteering in restorative justice is right for you, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Michael or leave a message at (514) 244 6147.

Make a Donation

Ours is challenging work and there is always more to do than present funds allow. For example, we would like to increase the number of our Community Building Workshops, our in-prison visits to those located in remote institutions that rarely see anybody from the community, and improve our capacity to provide full-time services in the community. Please assist us by your generosity.

Communitas has relied upon support from the Community Chaplaincy of Montreal (Aumônerie de Communautaire de Montréal) and individual donors like you.
