Communitas celebrated its Open Door 25th Anniversary this year at our
Annual Picnic on Saturday, 29 August 2026.
It was a beautiful sunny day at the Joe Mell House with some 30 people
coming and going all afternoon, bringing food, taking turns at the
barbeque with the sausages and hamburgers, and just quietly chatting in
groups – circulating from time to time both inside and outside in the
garden. A relaxed time was had by all, the covered swing constantly
exchanging occupants as some left and others arrived.
Corn on the cob was as usual a staple, and with all the salads and
various desserts – no one left hungry.
This was the second consecutive year that the Communitas Picnic has been
hosted by Joe Mell House and we thank them for their welcome and their
warm hospitality.
